Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to:
(a) Tool Room, South End - The Johnson horizontal band saw, Company Number
55, was not
equipped with a magnetic restarter or similar device as prescribed by the
American National
Standard Institute for Metal Sawing Machines, ANSI B11.10-2003, Section
6.11, that in event
an interruption in the electrical supply, would prevent the saw from
restarting automatically
when power is restored. Employees last used the horizontal band saw on or
about August 5,
2004.
(b) Tool Room, West Wall - The Powermatic vertical band saw, Company
Number 54, was not
equipped with a magnetic restarter or similar device as prescribed by the
American
National
Standard Institute for Metal Sawing Machines, ANSI B11.10-2003, Section
6.11, that in event
an interruption in the electrical supply, would prevent the saw from
restarting automatically
when power is restored.  Employees last used the horizontal band saw on or
about August 5,
2004.
In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required
for his violation
(using the CERTFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET, and in addition,
documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included
with your
certification.  This documentation may include, but not limited to,
evidence of the purchase
or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement,
or other written
records.
