Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to:
Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico:
El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a:
Employees were exposed to nausea, vomits, headache, itching, throat and
nose ardor,
compressed chest and dizziness due to objectionable odors. At Departamento
de
Educacion, at the Escuela Elemental Urbana Nueva de Ceiba, where the
employees were
teaching, it was found that the pluvial school system were clogged with
organic material
(such as but not limited to papers and food).
Among another methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method is
provide
preventive maintenance to the sanitary and pluvial school systems at least
once month
periodic basis, and put the syphons in the appropiate place.
Empleados estuvieron expuestos a nauseas, vomitos, dolor de cabeza, picor
en el cuerpo,
ardor en la garganta y nariz, mareos y pecho apretado debido a los olores
objetables. En
el Departamento de Educacion, en la Escuela Elemental Urbana Nueva de
Ceiba, donde
los empleados estaban dando clases, se encontro que los pluviales de la
escuela estaban
tapados con materia organica (tales como pero no limitadas a, papeles y
alimentos).
Entre otros metodos de correccion, uno factible y aceptable, es proveer
mantenimiento
preventivo a las lineas sanitarias y a las alcatarillas pluviales de la
escuela al menos una
vez al mes y colocar los sifones en los lugares
