Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment wich were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico: El patrono no proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten causando o que puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados estaban expuestos a: Employees were exposed to serious injuries such as Frostbite and Hypothermia caused by the exposure to lower temperatures. At Grande Supermarket located at the 181 Road,Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico, in warehouse area (Dairy) employees were observed getting merchandise from a freezer that the inside door's handle was missing (freezer number 1). Hazard: Employees can be locked within the freezer. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to repair or reinstall handles to the freezer to open the door from inside. NOTE: The freezer was identified as number 1 (one) because the freezers did not have their identification plates. See the apendix 1 of the Inspection's documents for details. Empleados estaban expuestos a lesiones serias tales como Congelacion e Hipotermia causado por la exposicion a bajas temperaturas. En Supermercado Grande localizado en la carretera 181 Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico, en el area de almacen (Dairy) se observaron empleados tomando mercancia de un congelador que le faltaba la perilla interna de la puerta (congelador numero 1). Riesgo: Empleados pueden quedar atrapados dentro del congelador. Entre otros metodos, un metodo factible para corregir este riesgo es reparar o reinstalar la perilla del congelador para abrir la puerta desde el interior. NOTA: El congelador fue identificado como numero 1 debido a que los congeladores no tenian su placa de identificacion. Ver el anejo 1 de los documentos de la inspeccion para detalles.
