Each employer shall furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which are free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees in that vehicle lifts were not inspected and maintained per Automotive Lift Institute Guidelines ALI ALOIM - 2000 ( ANSI B153.1-2000) in that (1) the lifts had not been inspected for at least 2 years, and (2) four lifts in use were leaking hydraulic oil. Among the feasible means of abatement would be to comply with ANSI B153.1-2000, " Standard for Automotive Lifts - Safety Requirements for Operation, Inspection, and Maintenance" The standard includes but is not limited to the following guidelines: 1) Have lifts inspected at least once a year by a qualified inspector. 2) Take out of service those lifts that are need of repair. 3) Repairs should be performed in accordance with the recommendations of the lift's manufacturer.
