General-duty citation text
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were not protected from automatic restart of metal-cutting saws: ANSI B11.10-1990, Section 4.2.3.4 states that in the event of an interruption in the electrical power supply, the machine shall not restart automatically when power is restored. Quantum Sign Corp. - Craftsman vertical band saw did not have provisions to prevent automatic start-up after a power outage (e.g. magnetic motor restart). Abatement certification required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(c).s
