Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to mercury vapors:
Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico:
El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a vapores de mercurio:
a)On August 24, 2006 at the quality coordinator office, the mercury of a
sphygmamometer was spilled and contamination with mercury occur.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct
this hazard is:  cleaning and /or replace all contaminated equipment.  The
cleaning shall be make with the proper equipment (vaccum cleaner,
solution,
and
personal protective equipment).  Then train the employees so this incident
not
happen again or if it happen they know how to proceed.
a)El 24 de agosto de 2006 en la oficina de la coordinadora en calidad, se
derramo
el mercurio de un esfigmamometro y ocurrio una contaminacion con mercurio.
Entre otros metodos, un metodo razonable y aceptable de corregir este
riesgo es:
limpieza y/o reemplazo de todo equipo contaminado.  La limpieza debe
realizarse
con el equipo apropiado (aspiradora, solucion quimica y equipo de
proteccion
personal).  Despues adiestrar a los empleados para que este tipo de
incidente no
vuelva a ocurrir o de ocurrir estos sepan como proceder."
