Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not
furnish employment
and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that
were causing or likely
to cause death or serious physical harm to employees:
(a)Date of Violation:11/04/04
Location:Production Department
Condition:A polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe was used to transport compressed
air to
the production area in order to run pneumatic staplers at 90 p.s.i..
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard is
to encase the PVC pipes in a shatter-resistant conduit (preferably metal
or ABS material) of
sufficient strength to provide protection from external damage and
deterioration. The PVC pipe
can also be completely replaced if this proves to be more economically
feasible.lly
