North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to lacerations from loose chain saw blades: a) old vehicle shop -the "Stihl"model M-250 chain saws with serial numbers 261055088 and 261360913 were missing their chain catch b)old vehicle shop -the "Stihl"model 034-AV Super chain saw with NCDOT number 09-03 had a defective throttle interlock Among other means, one feasible and useful abatement method be to follow the manufactures owner's manual and the "Stihl- Chain Saw Safety Manual" pages 22-25 that identifies the required maintenance checks.ance
