Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:01/19/05 Condition:An employee unloading unsecured granite slabs, weighing 900 pounds apiece, from an "A" frame from the flat bed of a delivery truck, was not protected from being struck by the granite slabs. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to secure the granite slabs to the "A" frame with a positive locking device, that is adjustable and of sufficient strength to prevent the granite slabs from falling. Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs, training certification, etc.) is required for this item.
