recognized hazards
that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that
employees were exposed to the hazard of becoming caught in a conveyor in
that:
(a) Emergency stop pull cords were not provided on the grain conveyor in
the area of Steep
# 2 where employees are working.
(b) The conveyor system located in Steep # 2 was not equipped with an
audible alarm to
warn employees when the conveyor is about to start.
A feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard would be to
install emergency pull
cords or guarding along all conveyor systems where employees may come into
contact with
the belt and rollers. Install start-up alarms such as an audible device in
all areas where
conveyors start automatically and follow the ASME B20.1 Safety Standard
for Conveyors
and Related Equipment.lly
