General-duty citation text
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by or falling from the collapsing truss system; (a) On October 18 2006, employees installing trusses with a span of 60-feet were exposed to the hazard of being struck by or falling from a collapsing wood roof truss system; in that, the trusses were not adequately braced. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement to correct this hazard is to install trusses with temporary bracing in accordance with the Truss Plate Instutute's BCSI-B1.
