physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to anhydrous
ammonia refrigerant:
(a)On or about 05/19/05, the processing ammonia refrigeration system did
not meet
requirements for the safe design, construction, installation, and
operation as presented
in ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 15-2001, Safety Standard for Refrigeration
Systems, in that
the receiver's pressure relief devices did not discharge to the atmosphere
at a location
at least 15 feet (4.57 meters) above the adjoining ground level
(ANSI/ASHRAE 15-2001,
Section 9.7.8.2). A feasible and acceptable abatement method is to plumb
the safety
valve discharge to at least 15 feet above ground level.
PLEASE NOTE: DOCUMENTATION AND CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT
IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.ION
