Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of potential fire and explosion because combustible particulate solids passed through an air moving device: (a)Open Face Finishing Booths Two and Three - The eight (8) twenty (20) inch by twenty (20) inch air filters installed on top of the booths were placed so that the combustible dust generated from finishing fiberglass products passed through the air - moving device (exhaust fan) prior to the filtering system, thereby exposing the employees to a burn hazard, on or about July 28, 2006. ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to comply with the following section of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 654, "Standard for the Prevention of Fire and Dust Explosions from the Manufacturing, Processing, and Handling of Combustible Particulate Solids (2006 edition): *Install the air filtering system so that the combustible particulate solids (dust) do not pass through the air-moving device (fan) per Section 7.12.2.1. VERIFICATION REQUIREDTION
