Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to:
(a)Bumper Block Manufacturing Area - Employees used a below the hook
lifting
device to move two hundred seventy five (275) pound bumper blocks.  The
lifting
device was not load tested to one hundred twenty five percent (125) of
its rated
load, was not routinely inspected for damage and did not have a permanently
affixed durable identification stating the rated capacity, lifting device
weight,
manufacturer and serial number on or about August 16, 2006.
Among other methods one feasible abatement method to correct this hazard
would be to
ensure all below the hook lifting devices are rated, inspected, loaded
tested and affix a
permanent durable identification with the rated capacity, lifting device
weight,
manufacturer and serial number as outlined in the American Society of
Mechanical
Engineers standard for Below the Hook Lifting Devices (ASME B30.20 - 1993).
