North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a)throughout facility, employees were exposed to the hazard of falling through/being struck by objects falling through the floor into the basement; wood floor had holes, wood beams (columns) and floor joists were rotten, cracking and splitting, and areas of the floor were sagging due to the damaged joists and columns. NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to abate this hazard includes the following: 1-Consult with a professional structural engineer to make assessment of repairs needed, determine the rated weight capabilities, and the abatement methods to repair the floor.

North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a)acid mixing area and basement, employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by chemical tanks falling and corrosive chemicals splashing onto their body; two 550 and 600 gallon tanks were supported by loose/stacked concrete blocks which were cracked, broken, and unstable. NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to abate this hazard includes the following: 1-Consult with a professional structural engineer to extend the legs and base of the tanks down onto the floor and stable surface.
