Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: 1) Employees were exposed to hazards related to possible underhung crane failure as a result of not being inspected by a qualified person on a frequent or periodic basis. 2) Underhung crane operators were exposed to potential shock hazards while operating the hanging pendant control. The multi-conductor cable powering the pendant control was under strain and not supported. Among the feasible means abatement would be to comply with the American National Standard Institute B30.11 - 1998, Section 11-1.9.1 Electrical Equipment and Section 11-2.1 Inspections. CERTIFICATION REQUIRED FOR THESE ITEMS

Employees do not wear the seat belts that are equipped on the forklifts. Among the feasible means abatement would be to comply with the American National Standard Institute B.56.1 - 2004.
