21 USA Title 23, Chapter 3, Sub-Chapter 5 Section 223(a): Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: the employer did not furnish to each of his employees a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of:On June 1, 2005 compressed air was used by employee to clean clothes and equipment, exposing employee to silica and the uncontrolled release of compressed air. LOCATION: Construction site, Colchester VIOLATION: On June 1, 2005 CSHO observed employee using compressed air to clean mobile drilling rig and to blow off employees clothing.The employee was not wearing respiratory protection at the time.
