Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a)Front Yard: Two employees were exposed to fall hazards ranging approximately 15' - 30' in height while upon a tree performing tree removal/cutting work without fall protection in place, on or about May 11, 2005. Note: Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this hazard are: 1.Use a personal fall arrest system consisting of a Type II saddle belt and a lanyard to protect employees from fall hazards while upon a tree. 2.Perform tree removal work from within an aerial lift with a body harness and attached lanyard.
