Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a crane collapse: a)300 Ikea Drive - Paramus,NJ: An employee was exposed to a crane collapse hazard while operating a Link-Belt LS-138H II crane with an unsubstantially sized and improperly spaced timber footing, on or about May 13,2005. Note: Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this hazard are: 1) Grade earth surface to eliminate the need for leveling crane with timber footings. 2) Use timbers of sufficient size and proper spacing to support the crane.
