facility were inspected and
maintained in accordance with the manufacturer's requirements and with the
American National
Standard Institute guidelines for the use of industrial and commercial
steel storage racks.
Employees working in the warehouse area of the building where damaged
racks are located were
exposed to the hazards of collapsed storage racks.
AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE METHOD TO
CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS the following: Develop and implement a structural
integrity
program to periodically inspect steel storage racks as recommended by the
Rack
Manufactures Institute specifications dated, 1997 Edition, Section 1.4.1.
29 CFR 1903.19(c)(1) requires certification that the abatement of the
above violation is
completed.
