North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety
and Health Act of North Carolina:  The employer did not furnish
employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or
serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed
to 1-bromopropane:
a)facility, employees working in the gluing department use
spray guns to apply Soft Seam Adhesive to foam pieces to
make furniture cushions; the adhesive contains 701-
bromopropane which is known to effect the central nervous
system, reproductive system, and respiratory system.  Air
monitoring showed employee exposures as follows:
1.  Line 2, employee A was sampled for a total of
505 minutes, with an eight hour time weighted
average (TWA) of 99 ppm;
2.  Line 2, employee B was sampled for a total of
578 minutes, with an 8 hour TWA of 137 ppm;
3.  Line 2, employee C was sampled for a total of
567 minutes, with an 8 hour TWA of 114 ppm;
4.  Line 1, employee D was sampled for a total of
585 minutes, with an 8 hour TWA of 76 ppm;
5.  Line 4, employee E was sampled for a total of
587 minutes, with an 8 hour TWA of 52 ppm.
ABATEMENT NOTE:
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method
to correct this hazard is to provide an effective
ventilation system that would reduce the exposure
potential to below 10 ppm, the ACGIH recommended exposure
limit, as indicated on the Mid South Adhesives, Inc.
MSDS, which was provided to NCDOL by Royale Comfort
Seating, Inc.
OR IN THE ALTERNATIVE:
29 CFR 1910.94(c)(5)(i):  Ventilation for spray finishing
operation(s) was not provided in accordance with the provisions of
Section 1910.107(d) or in accordance with the requirements of this
subparagraph:
a)Facility, employees working in the gluing department use
