North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a)building #4 galvanizing department, service and maintenance was performed on a zinc kettle exhaust system while exposed to electrical and thermal energy sources, procedures to control potentially hazardous energy (lockout/tagout) were not utilized. NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to abate this hazard includes the following: 1.Comply with the American National Standard ANSI/ASSE Z244.1-2003: Control of Hazardous Energy Lockout/Tagout and Alternative Methods.ive
