Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a fall hazard: a) Facility - Warehouse: Employees raised on pallets attached to fork lift trucks were not protected from the hazard of falling to the floor below by the use of a work platform. Violation occurred on or about 5/11/05 and 5/17/05. Abatement Note: One feasible and acceptable method of abatement, among others, is to provide a "safety platform" in accordance with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Standards B56.1 - 2000, Section 4 Safety Standards for Low Lift and High Lift Trucks and/or a work platform designed for this type of work. Abatement certification is required for this violation.ion
