Health Act of North Carolina:  The
employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment
and a place of employment free from
recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious
physical harm to employees in that
employees were exposed to:
a)Facility, Shipping Conveyor area - overhead conveyors, measuring 7 feet
to the ground,
carrying boxes with tobacco rag weighing approximately 750 lbs, had no
spill guards to prevent
these from falling onto employees.
ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement
method
to correct
this hazard is to install metal mesh along the outer rim of conveyors,
especially in areas adjacent to
employee lockers and where they pass underneath the conveyor.
