NCGS 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employee in that workers were exposed to live electrical parts and possible explosive environment: a)Migrant farm worker employees were exposed to live electrical parts as panel/junction box located approximately two feet above gas stoves had open spaces exposing live electrical parts. Additionally the gas stove located just below the live electrical parts was missing two handles such that gas could leak from the partially open valves. Migrant farm workers were thus exposed to inhalation of propane gas as well as the posibilty of an explosive environment under the live electrical parts. Among other methods one feasible method of abatement is to install blank spacers in the fuse box, and install handles on the gas stove ensuring gas valves can be completely closed.
