What this inspection record means

OSHA opens inspections for many reasons — routine scheduling under a national or local emphasis program, an employee complaint or referral, or a follow-up after a reported injury. Opening or conducting an inspection is not itself an allegation or a finding that this employer broke any rule; any findings appear as the citations listed below, and citations can be contested, reduced, or withdrawn.

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The
employer did not furnish
employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized
hazards that were causing or likely
to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees
were exposed to:
a)Langston Printing Press: The red (stop) button on the Langston Printing
Press is used as an on/off
button. Depressing the red button and securing it with a latch causes the
press to run. According to
ANSI B65.1, Safety Specifications for controls and signaling devices for
printing presses, depressing
the red button will place the press in a safe mode, i.e., press will not
operate.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard is use the
