Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to the hazard of falls:
a)  Rocky Mountain Mast Climbers LLC., 450 E. 17th Ave., Denver, CO:
The employer had not ensured that during times when employee(s) of the
company were disassembling a Hydro Mobile M2 mast climber system, adequate
fall protection was used.  On or about 1/24/2006 an employee of the company
was observed disassembling a Hydro Mobile mast climber on the north side of
the building while climbing on the upper most mast tower without
appropriate fall
protection.  Condition exposed this employee to a fall hazard of up to 35
feet.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct
this hazard would be to follow the manufacturers operating manual and
mandate
the use of fall protection when climbing or decending the tower if exposed
to
height over 10 feet as listed on page 21 of the manual.
