explosions from
improperly bonded flammable liquid dispensing systems:
In the following instances, non-current carrying metal containers used for
dispensing
Class 1 flammable liquids, were not properly bonded:
a)Service Area - The 55 gallon drum of Malco Clear Dressing was not bonded
to
a grounding surface in order to prevent the accumulation of static
electricity.
b)Service Area - The 55 gallon drum of Malco Clear Dressing was not bonded
to
the secondary container in order to prevent the accumulation of static
electricity
during transfer.
Among other methods, one acceptable feasible means of abatement to correct
this hazard is to
bond the drum to structural steel or a grounding rod, and to the secondary
container during
transfer.
