Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards which were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that, employees were exposed to falls and crushing hazards while tieing their personal fall arrest system to the guard system of a scissor lift: a) On or about February 22, 2006, employees were not protected from falls and crushing hazards where the employees tied off their fall arrest systems to the guardrail system of the scissor lift. The employees worked outside the platform creating a hazard of pulling the scissor lift over in the event of a fall. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazardous condition would be to follow the manufacturer's instruction manual and work from the scissor lift's platform within the guardrail system. Abatement Note: Abatement certification and documentation is required for this item (see enclosed "Sample Abatement-Certification Letter").-Certification

hSection 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards which were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that, employees were exposed to fall hazards while using the top step of the ladder to access higher areas of the aircraft. a) On or about February 22, 2006, employees were not protected from fall hazards while using a step ladder (top step) to access the baggage compartment and the pylon of the aircraft. b) On or about February 22, 2006, employees were not protected from falls exceeding 4 feet while working on different levels and areas of the aircraft. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazardous condition would be to provide employees with an extension ladder and training on proper use of ladders. Abatement Note: Abatement certification and documentation is required for this item (see enclosed "Sample Abatement-Certification Letter").-Certification

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards which were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that, employees were exposed to crushing hazards while the hangar doors were opening and closing. a) On or about February 22, 2006, employees were exposed to crushing hazards while working with and around the hangar doors which were not provided with any type of activation warning system. b) On or about February 22, 2006, employees were exposed to crushing hazards while working with and around the hangar doors, in that the control buttons were being jammed in the operating mode. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazardous condition would be to, (a) install emergency warning lights and/or sirens which activate when the hangar doors are opening and closing. (b) Install a constant pressure operation switch, and then train all employees on the safe and proper operation of the hanger doors. Abatement Note: Abatement certification and documentation is required for this item (see enclosed "Sample Abatement-Certification Letter").-Certification
