Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The

recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to struck by hazards:
a)Melting Department, Charging crane - On or about 08/16/05, the hook on
the overhead
crane did not have a safety latch.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazard would be the
installation of a safety latch on the hook as recognized in
1910.181(j)(2)(ii) which states "Safety
latch type hooks shall be used wherever possible."  Also to comply with
the requirements of the
American National Standard for Safety Requirements for Melting and Pouring
of Metals in
Metalcasting Industry Z241.2 Section 5.3.2.3 - Hooks and the American
Society of Mechanical
Engineers Standard ASME B30.10-1993, Hooks, Section 10-1.1.1.2(b).

VIOLATION OF THIS OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH STANDARD OR ITS
EQUIVALENT STANDARD 5(A)(1) WHICH WAS CONTAINED IN INSPECTION
