Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazards: Fryeburg Fairgrounds - On or about 09/28/2005, employees erecting a carnival ride (Sky Diver) were exposed to falls in excess of ten feet, and employees removing materials from the tops of trailers were exposed to falls in excess of eight feet. ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other methods, a feasible and acceptable method to correct the hazard is to either: 1)Utilize an articulating boom lift to safely access heights, or 2)Implement and enforce the use of personal fall arrest systems for each exposed employee, or 3)Use properly positioned portable ladders to access heights.
