Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) Throughout manufacturing facility along walls and ceiling - PVC pipe, used to transport compressed air, was not an approved compressed air line piping system or enclosed in conduit or casing. Hazard of being struck by pieces (shards) of exploding PVC pipe. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is: To completely enclose the plastic service line in conduit or casing of sufficient strength to provide protection from external damage and deterioration. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED
