Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were not protected from automatic restart of metal-cutting saws.
The following saws did not have magnetic restart capability:
a) Hobart Vertical Bandsaw in mine battery room, ser #5216D, model
#11-1F4-147, and
b) Craftsman 10" Table Saw, ser #0424, mod #152-221140.  ANSI B11.10
(1990), Section
4.2.3.4 states that "in the event of an interruption in the electrical
power supply, the machine
shall not restart automatically when power is restored".  A feasible means
of abatement would
be to install a motor control device or magnetic restart to prevent
automatic restart after an
interruption in the power supply, as required by ANSI B11.10 (1974).
Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the
requirements of 29
CFR 1903.19(d).  Abatement complete.
