Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck-by hazards while operating an underslung crane, with an unmarked pendant control: a)Southwest section; on the Cleveland Tram Rail underslung crane, the controller was not marked to indicate the direction of resultant motion when the buttons were depressed as per ANSI B30.16-1. One method of abatement that was performed during the inspection, among others, was to install the markings onto the controller.
