North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to struck by hazards because of the deterioration of the roof: a)facility-the roof insulation is saturated with water and the metal deck is rusted causing roof leaks throughout the building. The structural integrity of the roof is questionable without proper repairs or a structural engineer's corroboration. (Roof is approximately 21' high and 125,000 square foot in size) A feasible means of abatement is to replace the roof or provide certification from a structural engineer determining the roof is safe from collapsing.
