North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: falling from a non secured platform on the forks of a rough terrain forklift truck not designed for lifting personal. a)site - employees buildings single family house two story on 9 foot piling were being lifted in a wooden box by a extensible boom, rough terrain fork lift truck manufactured by Sky Track Model #8042, and the safety platform was not properly secured to the truck. Among other methods one feasible method to reduce or eliminate this hazard is to follow the ANSI standard for Rough Terrain Forklift trucks and use of safety platforms for elevating of personnel. Reference : ANSI B56.60202 Safety Standard for rough Terrain Forklifts Trucks. Section 5.15, para 5.15.1a through 5.15.1y.
