Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to stuck-by/caught between hazards and resulting blunt force trauma injuries from roof truss collapses: A.) Construction Site ---Fairview Landings--- Condo Units 7510/7514: On or about September 1, 2006, the trusses associated with condo units 7510/7514 collapsed. Diagonal bracing was not installed in accordance with BCSI 1-03. B.) Construction Site ---Fairview Landings--- Condo Units 7510/7514: After the trusses were re-erected, temporary diagonal bracing was not installed in accordance with BCSI 1-03 in that temporary diagonal bracing was not installed along the top chord, web member, and/or interior cord. In addition, ground bracing diagonals were not installed on either end of the condominium in accordance with BCSI 1-03. Only one diagonal ground brace was attempted on the south side of the condominium by the road. ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other methods, feasible and acceptable means to correct the condition noted above include complying with the BCSI pamphlets on truss safety (e.g. BCSI 1-03, BCSI-B1 through B3).ugh
