Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The
employer did not furnish
employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized
hazards that were
causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in
that:
(a)On August 16, 2006, an employee of TRS Metal & Roofing, LLC operated a
Genie Z60/34 aerial lift without training for that specific lift.  The
employee
operated the lift in a manner which blocked the view of the direction of
travel at
the lift's maximum speed.  This exposed employees to struck-by and
collision
hazards.
Among other methods, a feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazard is to follow the
American National Standards Institute (ANSI), A92.5-1992; for
Boom-Supported
Elevating
Work Platforms; Section 7.11.13 Travel Speed; Section 8.5 Training and the
Genie Operators
Manual for Z-60/34 lifts - Training and operating requirements.
Certification, and documentation/evidence of abatement is required.
Certification of abatement is required by 29 CFR Part 1903 and is to be
submitted within ten (10)
calendar days after the abatement date.ment
