Truck did not
meet the design, construction, and use requirements as outlined in ASME
B56.6 Safety
Standards for Rough Terrain Forklift Truck Section 8.24.1(b):  floor
dimensions which shall not
exceed two times the load center distance listed on the rough terrain
forklift truck nameplate,
measured parallel to the longitudinal center plane of the truck, nor have
a
width greater than the
overall width of the truck [measured across the load bearing tires plug 10
in. (250 mm) on either
side].
(a)An employee was using an elevated work platform measuring approximately
50"
deep by 14' wide on a SkyTrak 8042 Rough Terrain Forklift.  The employee
was
exposed to tipping hazards while working from the platform.
Among other methods, feasible and acceptable means to correct these
hazards are to use a safer
alternate method such as the use of a platform approved by the manufacture
meeting the
requirements of ASME/ANSI B56.6-2002 for the elevated work platform.
No certification required.  Violation Abated.on
