Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck-by hazards: On or about 1/13/06, at 30070 South Dixie Highway, Homestead, FL, two employees were exposed to a struck by hazard while performing automobile repair underneath automobile lifts that malfunctioned and dropped occasionally. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard involves the use of four jacks stands to equalize and stabilize the load. This method is outlined in the "Lifting It Right - A Safety Manual From The Automotive Lift Institute", page 16. PLEASE NOTE: DOCUMENTATION AND CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
