Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of drowning when working adjacent to water: On or about June 22, 2006, employees were working on the starboard side of the boat without wearing a U.S. Coast Guard approved flotation device. Among other feasible means of abatement to correct this hazard is to require employees to use US Coast Guard approved life jackets or buoyant work vests. PLEASE NOTE: CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
