Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to struck by hazards: On or about September 1, 2006, at 12840 Mermill Rd Custar, OH, employees were exposed to struck-by hazards from truck service number 103 which contained a Auto Crane 6006EH Auto Crane, serial number 1FDAF57F2XEA4863, in that the outriggers were not deployed while unloading a trencher with the crane. One feasible means of abatement, included, but not limited too, following the operator's manual per page 2-1.0, that states always extend the outriggers from vehicle to the ground before crane operation. No additional abatement information is required for this item.
