Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not furnish employment
and place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were
causing or likely to cause death
or serious physical harm to employees who were exposed to struck-by or
caught between hazards from
improperly braced roof trusses:
a.Rt. 60 Post Frame Building Under Construction - The employer did not
adequately temporarily
brace the forty one 60 feet long wooden trusses, set on 3 feet centers and
weighing
approximately 464 pounds each due to the fact the BCSI guide lines were
not followed due to
there was no top chord diagonal bracing and improper temporary lateral
bracing of the trusses
and improper bracing of the gable braces as observed on 10-29-07.
Abatement Note:
Among other methods, feasible and acceptable means to correct the
condition noted above include complying
with the BCSI 1-03 Guidelines.
