North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and
Health Act of North Carolina:
The employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of
employment and a place of employment free
from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or
serious physical harm to employees in
that employees were exposed to:
a)strains/sprains when moving rolls of fabric weighing up to 3000 pounds.
Employees manually
push/pull heavy rolls of fabric when mechanical doff mechanism fails to
operate properly.
Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct
this hazard are:
1-To use half doff procedures to lower weight of fabric roll, or
2-To maintain mechanical doff systems by doing more frequent chain tension
inspections.

Health Act of North Carolina:
The employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of
employment and a place of employment free
from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or
serious physical harm to employees in
that employees were exposed to:
a)being struck by rolls of fabric weighing up to 3000 pounds. Employee was
cutting run over or
excess fabric on roll of cloth to doff the roll from machine. Cut tail of
cloth wrapped around
rotating sand roll of doff unit which caused the roll of cloth to be
pushed from equipment onto
floor. The roll struck employee in leg on or about 9/16/05.
Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct
this hazard are:
1-To shut off equipment when cutting run over lengths off of cloth roll, or
2-To doff run over roll of cloth as is and notify finishing department to
address excess
cloth in next process step.
