On or about November 8, 2006, at Diamond Blue Drilling Rig #7, an employee
worked from the derrick board without an emergency escape descent device
installed
and available for use.  The employee was exposed to a potential fall from
the derrick
board in the event of a fire or explosions at the drilling rig platform.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard
would be installation of a properly installed and secured emergency
descent or other
satisfactory auxiliary means of egress, such as specified in the American
Petroleum Institute
