North Carolina General Statue 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Helath Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: a) Facility, Production Area, Loading - The CM 3 Ton Underhung Bridge Crane was not being inspected as required. b) Facility, Production Area, West - The CM 3 Ton Underhung Bridge Crane was not being inspected as required. c) Facility, Production Area, East - The CM 3 Ton Underhung Bridge Crane was not being inspected as required. Reference:ANSI B30.16-2003, Chapter 16-2, Section 16-2.1 Inspection, Paragraph 16-2.1.1 Inspection Classification. (a)Prior to initial use, all new, altered, modified hoists shall be inspected by a designated person to ensure compliance with this standard. (b)Inspection Intervals. Inspection procedures for hoists in regular service is divided into two general classifications based upon the intervals at which inspections should be performed. (1)Frequent Inspection (2)Periodic Inspection NOTE:Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to conduct hoist inspections as required.
