Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing hazards from not being trained to follow safety precautions while operating the Skid Steer Loader: Location: Job Site, 1 Rockland Road a) The employer did not train their employees to follow safety precautions while operating the Skid Steer Loader, thus exposing the employees to crushing hazards, on or about 05/12/07. Among other feasible methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to... 1. Follow the instructions in the T1 73HL' III Series Owner's and Operators Manual, Safety Precautions, Page 3, "Equipment should be operated only by those who are responsible and instructed to do so". #5 "Always fasten the seat belt around your waist before starting the engine. Never fasten the seat belt behind you". #10 "Do not operate the loader unless all safety equipment, shields...are working properly". NOTE: The employer is required to submit abatement certification for this item in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19.ce
