Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to "falling" parts and/or loads: Block Plant: The Duff-Norton 1-ton overhead hoist had the following deficiencies: 1. Regular inspections and servicing of the hoist was not conducted. 2. The cable was not greased and had multiple kinks in the wire rope. 3. The hoist was not equipped with a load block "travel" limit switch to prevent the load block from hitting the overhead structures/parts.
