Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm: At the jobsite on or about 08/28/06 the employer allowed an employee to climb onto a crane boom that had just been loaded onto lowboy type trailer without being secured in place to disconnect the sling. The employee was exposed to the type of hazards associated with caught in between. Among others, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement would be to secure the load before allowing anyone to release the sling rigging.
