Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to head injuries and/or amputations due to hazards of falling and /or being caught in a moving conveyor while crossing the conveyors in the merge by: On or about October 3, 2006, at the sorter/merge employees are climbing fixed ladders installed on the side of the conveyor and crossing the moving conveyor by stepping across up to 37 inches to the ladder on the other side of the conveyor. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct the hazard is to install a crossover walkway surface as stipulated in ANSI B20.1-2003, Section 6.11.1(b).,
